In an effort to extend our training outside of the classroom and into the practical world of theater, ESPA offers many programs designed exclusively for students to work collaboratively, build a network, and gain professional exposure. The projects and relationships developed through these programs often take on a future life in readings, productions, and even the formation of writers groups and theater companies. ESPA students also receive special benefits within the theater community. These perks are just one way that Primary Stages and our fellow artistic organizations recognize and reward students for their dedication to the community and commitment to their craft.
Benefits include ticket offers, discount memberships, rehearsal studios and administrative support, jam sessions, the shop program, and having your work promoted by ESPA.
ESPA Drills is a new play development program providing extensive workshopping, a public presentation, and advocacy within the theater community for four new plays written at least in part at Primary Stages ESPA.
Detention is an evening of new and original theater pieces written, directed, and performed exclusively by ESPA students. This program continually brings the ESPA community of artists together in a raw, collaborative challenge with public exposure.
We open our doors to all those in the ever-growing ESPA community for a week of exciting collaborations and networking opportunities with artists in all stages of their careers. Events include free master classes, workshops, performances, pizza party, and more!
